Admission to Loyola College of Education, Namchi, is open to all irrespective of their caste, creed or class, sex and place of birth. However, everything being equal, a preferential option is given to the candidates from Sikkim and also those from the under-privileged group whom Christ loved and served most.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applications are invited from all eligible/qualified candidates, who have cleared Graduation or Post Graduation from any University recognized by UGC. All eligible applications would be scrutinized for entrance test by the admission committee.

Eligibility for B.Ed. Only those candidates would be eligible for admission who have secured a minimum of 50% in the aggregate in their Graduation/Post Graduation examinations from any recognized university. [Relaxation would be granted to SC/ST candidates who produce the relevant certificates). Working knowledge of English is essential. Applicants coming from Universities other than Sikkim University need to submit their Migration Certificates preferably at the time of their admissions or latest by the end of July.

Eligibility for M.A. in Education A candidate who has passed Bachelor Degree of 3 years’ duration (B.A. Hons in Education with 50% for General and 45% marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD or equivalent) under 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University.

Eligibility for Ph. D in Education A candidate who has done post-graduation degree or M. Phil in the relevant discipline with 55% marks (50% for reserved category students) in aggregate from any recognized university.

Admission Process Application forms are available from the college office counter and also can be downloaded from the college website: wwwloyolasikkim.org as per University/College notifications. All the required documents to be submitted along with the application form. An admission process shall be drawn out for each programme and the same shall be uploaded in the college website. The admission process shall contain all details including the dates and criteria for selection. A college entrance test and interview will be conducted to select eligible candidates.

Entrance Exam: Entrance test will be conducted for all the programmes. The entrance test syllabus shall be uploaded in the college website along with the date, time and areas of the exam. The entrance exam may consist of and not limited to aptitude test, analytics round and personal interview.

Entrance Test Results: After the entrance test result and eligible candidates will be called for personal interview. The entrance test is mandatory for all candidates who wish to take admission in any programme of the College. The admission committee shall verify all the academic details and fix the dates for personal interview for the admission.
All admission shall be provisional until the candidates submit the original documents and they are verified.

Special provisions eligibility criteria The Loyola College of Education is primarily dedicated to the welfare of people in Sikkim. Therefore, due preference is given to the locals. However, the following exceptions could be made.

• 1. Christian Students.
• 2. Physically challenged, polio victims, first generation learners, refugees, single parent children, deserving students referred/ sponsored by the NGOs etc. who seek admission on merit for special consideration.

Transparency in Admission Policy

• 1. College will not accept any kind of donation during the admission.
• 2. College will not take any admission through agents.
• 3. College fees charged to all students, and official receipts are issued. Amount to be charged are to be fixed by the Governing Body.
